When the pandemy hit and the world shut down, the LGBTQ+ community didn’t want to stop partying. Zoom became the virtual club that kept the dancing and social spaces alive each week. I had the pleasure of working with Writer/Director Angie Bird on creating the title sequence for the film and the various motion graphics placed throughout. I leaned heavily into the throwback Y2K vibe inspired by a lot of the music artists involved. It was a jumble of 90s computer nostalgia covered in chrome and pink plastic. I threw on headphones and jammed out to Charlie XCX, Hannah Diamond, A.G Cook while designing and animating. It was a blast to work on and made it hard to stay in my seat.

The short film picked up a vimeo staff pick and was featured in Paper Magazine. Congrats to everyone involved!

In a world of motion design that is often shiny, perfect and clean; It was a great challenge to design an opening sequence to the film Filth City with some real grit and rough edges. The film is a dark comedy about a crack smoking, boozing, corrupt politician. Below is my preferred cut, which is slightly different from the final, as well as some early unused exploration and experimentation. At one point I even tried filming the titles in baking soda blowing away for that real coke look.

I will always remember meeting with creator’s Ins Choi, Kevin White and Canadian television legend Ivan Fecan in the back of a Korean restaurant on Bloor street walking them through various concepts for the opening of this classic Canadian TV show. We shot this opening together with the cast around Toronto and it was truly a great collaborative experience. I edited the opening and (as seen in the styleframes below) tried to push for as much color as possible since the comedy was bright, fresh and diverse. In the end, we met somewhere in the middle but below is my preferred opening with a jazzier title card animation and more pops of colorful shapes.

Halfway through the 2020 pandemic I found myself looking through old hard drives of scattered photos and reminiscing about previous trips, experiences and general good times I’d experienced around Alberta and BC. As a quarantine project, I thought it would be a fun design exercise to collect some of my favorites and put them together in this photo zine format. I reached out to my friend, John, because I remembered him also shooting quite a bit during our times together. Luckily, he also had a box of old hard drives with photos sitting on them and he sent over the ones he felt would make a great addition to the zine.

I really enjoyed the experience of working on this fully animated spot for Ford.ca. I had a great experience working with creatives from the agency as they really allowed me to come up with some unique designs and interesting ways of animating information. I leaned into the blue Ford palette heavily and enjoyed blending 2D with 3D elements.

Gen Zs love selling stuff on Shopify….god, get with it.
We visualized it with motion design, comp work and bright color. The team at Shopify is full of people who really get how to work intelligently and efficiently, all while providing great and valuable feedback. A+. Would work with again!

We created......a party machine! An over-the-top fantasy vodka vending machine that amps up your party while recommending a vodka drink for any occasion. We had fun going hard making as many silly jokes as we could on these spots. I leaned into my love of pinball DMD animations (dot matrix display) and got to create a bunch for our machine. This was our first project rendered using RedShift back in the beta release days

How do you tell Ontarians that the Ontario Motor Vehicle Industry Council has your back? By using adorable animals, that’s how! I led this concept from script to storyboards, through to design and animation. Working with a cutout collage style was a great way to make use of mixed stock photography on a limited budget while still showing that OMVIC is “your free ride to your new ride”.
And we did it all without showing a car.
